Murray Goulburn improves SAP response timesMarch 2008 |
Murray Goulburn Cooperative (MGC) is Australia’s leading dairy business and the largest exporter of processed food – best known locally for its Devondale brand. To support business growth and ever increasing system demand, the company needed an IT infrastructure that could be highly scalable and flexible. Response times and performance were serious issues.
Advent One’s solution included IBM’s SAN Volume Controller, Tivoli Storage Manager and additional data storage equipment to cater for growth – plus comprehensive implementation services.
Murray Goulburn’s IT Manager, Paul Stancill, says: “The continuing expansion and use of our SAP system was showing signs of degradation. There were 600 users using the production system. Response times were poor, storage capacity had reached its limit, the backup process was taking a long time and our Sun equipment had reached the limits of its expansion. We were looking for a flexible and scaleable platform that would, first, enable us to get our response times back to good levels, but then also allow us to cater for further growth in the future.
“Working with IBM and their Business Partner Advent One, we have consolidated from seven Sun servers to a single IBM Series p5 server. We have decreased CPUs from 26 to four – resulting in reduced software licensing charges – while improving SAP response times.
“Advent One was able to smooth the process of dealing with IBM, which is better done by a small, nimble partner… Advent One has fulfilled that position very well.”
